AV OPEN STU 2

Family Invisible Space

Krittakorn Rugsakorn 603

My project starts with the observation in the Thai family and how they raised their children. During the observation, I found that parents use hitting method on their children in order to educate them, and it is a very common method in Thailand.

While this action happens, it creates the space in between the parents and the children. It becomes a space that cannot be fill in by both parents and children. It’s like the empty space that for other people’s opinion. This space is like figures and ground, similar to Rubin’s vase, but it is mostly focusing on the ground part. In this space, it can also view in different perspectives like the cameras from different angles.

To explore that space, I began my experiment with a few materials. I created the space with resin to test out space inside. But since the first resin experiment is too small, I tried to make the bigger one, and this is my experiment result.

I also did some experiment on the fog screen with light. For the fog screen, I tried to test with the mist maker in the fish tank first before testing with the light. I tested the light by moving it around the fog to see the outcome.
