Nowadays, the Internet has become the public space where people can express their opinions freely on the topic of their interest or their thought about recent events. But sometimes they use it to spread their idea and voice to other people. They create propaganda through modern technology. It may make those viewers change their view and thought on that topic, and believe in the spreader’s word.

In this week, I got to explore the website called The Sprawl. This website is about the episodic documentary of the different video pieces that collaged together into a video. Most of the videos are about the political issue of different countries, but when it was being remixed, the meaning changed too. Some of them changed from normal video clips into the serious topic, while some changed from Serious matter into lighthearted. When I first visited the website, it was so confusing for me because it is so abstract and artistic. But when I looked into the website and videos a few times, the content is very interesting. They aim to communicate to us that propaganda does not only exist in reality but also the world of digital.

One of the videos that caught my eye is Natalia Poklonskaya and Enjoykin — Nyash Myash. It caught my interest is because how it arranges videos and combine cute melody music into it, making us see a new perspective of the chief prosecutor Poklonskaya. The original video is from the news about how serious the matter is. But Enjoykin rearranged the video by adding Japanese animation that he made by the user himself, and with the music that rearranged with Poklonskaya’s voice, it becomes a good composition.

In the human experience, political ideology and propaganda have played powerful roles in forging group identity. — Anthony R. Brunello

But why is it being view as propaganda about propaganda? In my view, I saw how the editor tried to make us think that this woman is like an angel in the political world. She is viewed as a person that love and protect her country in the country. Whatever she said to the public is enough to encourage the citizen to believe in her and makes them think that she loves the country. She makes people confidence by just giving the speech via technology that exists in this era, and used it to spread her idea’s well. Once one knew how useful modern technology can take them to the next level, then they can go further where everyone believes everything they do.
